For such a small country, in territory as well as population, Croatia is extremely diverse. The continental, flat part of the country holds the beautiful capital Zagreb, driving down you’ll encounter lakes, waterfalls, mountains, passing by the stunning peninsula of Istria, and finally reaching the rugged coast adorned with islands, bays, islets and the most breath-taking sunsets.

If you’ve been dreaming about your wedding day since you were a little girl, and imagined yourself as a princess in white, getting married in a castle or palace – there are few better places in the world than Dubrovnik.

From lavish ceremonies held in the famous Sponza palace to exceptional receptions upon the
Lovrijenac fortress, the options are countless. Aside from the aforementioned Sponza palace, similar structures are the Rector’s palace and the Lazareti. All these buildings hold a tremendous historical meaning – from the times when Dubrovnik was a wealthy maritime republic. Fortresses of Lovrijenac, Bokar, Revelin are outstanding venues which will leave all your guests impressed.

If you’d prefer something more natural with a beautiful view, you might want to go for Višnjica or
Park Orsula. These are also popular for elopements, as their secluded, intimate locations are far away from the crowds, yet as close as possible to the most unimaginably amazing views.

Go a little bit deeper into the countryside and you’ll find little estates and cottages such as Koraceva kuca, and numerous small villas for a more refined guest count. And if that countryside, vineyard,

Tuscany-esque feeling is something you’re looking for, the next destination might be the one for you too.

Istria is the biggest peninsula in Croatia, and truly one of the most beautiful places in the country. Naturally a lot of people gravitate towards the coast, and it is no wonder with charming cities such as Rovinj. In this area you’ll find lots of exclusive hotel resorts, such as the Grand Park and Spirito Santo, as well as the Maistra hotels along the islands of St Katarina and St Andrija. St Andrija island has an absolutely stunning mausoleum which is just to die for when it comes to wedding photos!

But for some the coast may be an obvious choice, and they might want to retreat into the countryside. Reminiscent of its neighbour Italy, the Istrian inland area is unbelievably beautiful.

Some of the most popular venues include the Meneghetti resort and the San Canzian one. Whether you’re planning a big or small event, there are plenty of options!

You can really go from one extreme end to another in Istria, from a full on castle like Castle Belaj, to a smaller family estate like OPG Paladnjaki. But what always stays is good wine, good food and good atmosphere!

In the middle of the Croatian coast, above Dubrovnik and beneath Kvarner and Istria, lies Dalmatia – a part of our country full of beauty and certainly full of fun.

From the beaches of Makarska, up north to one of the biggest cities of Croatia, Split, there are numerous wedding venues. One of the most popular ones definitely being Villa Dalmacija, a venue that not only offers unique wedding receptions but can also hold different kinds of wedding ceremonies, depending on if you go for the garden or the waterfront.

Split also has beautiful hotels such as the Park hotel with a stunning garden terrace, and if you’re looking for a resort wedding with great options for accommodation too, look no further from Trogir and Brown Beach House.

Zadar and Šibenik are only two more cities with extraordinary beauty and history, and for Zadar many say it has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Just imagine that golden hour!

Croatia is a country with over 1,000 islands and islets, and there are a few that are just perfect for an island wedding if you’re going for more of a relaxed vibe.

Vis is definitely at the top of the list – the furthest away from the Croatian coast, you can
immediately feel that when you reach it. It feels almost like a different world and there’s nothing
more relaxing than chilling at a bar in Komiža with a cocktail in hand. Some wedding venues there include Konoba Lola, Frutarija and the famous St George fortress.

If you want to combine this laidback island feeling with a riveting nightlife, Hvar is the place for you.
Choose from many hotels and resorts, from Hotel Palace Elisabeth, to Amfora and Bonj beach club – and have your ceremony at the St Marak courtyard, hidden away by high cypress tree tops.

Just to name a few, some other islands which offer interesting Croatian wedding venues are Brač,
Korčula, Šolta, Mljet, Koločep, Lopud, Lokrum, Rab, Pag, etc.
